Be Your Own Advocate – You Have Voice and Choice In Your Health Care Decisions

AHCCCS (Arizona’s Medicaid system) Navigating the Behavioral Health System tool explains how to be your own health care advocate. You have a right to direct your health care.  For people living with a mental illness or behavioral health diagnosis having choice of your services is important for your recovery.

Did you know that you have a right to request covered services and choose where to receive these services within your network?

If your provider does not know you have the right to choose or is not honoring your right, take this AHCCCS handout explaining this right to your provider. If they still will not recognize your right call your health plan’s (insurance company) Member Services or AHCCCS Clinical Resolution Unit at 602-364-4558, or 800-867-5308.
